In the realm of higher education, Malaysia is currently undergoing a multitude of transformations in research and innovation. Globalization has brought about increased mobility and collaboration, fundamentally reshaping the way we teach and learn. Malaysian institutions of higher learning (IHL) are now facing the dual challenge of providing high-quality education while also ensuring financial sustainability. Moreover, they are expected to conduct world-class research that has a significant societal impact.<\/span><\/p>\n

This necessitates researchers to increasingly engage in multidisciplinary research to achieve better outcomes and contribute to the nation’s productivity. Research excellence is a pivotal gauge of university performance, regularly assessed through national and global ranking systems. Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is actively striving for global recognition by highlighting its achievements through impactful findings, innovative solutions, and the commercialization of research products.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) plays a central role in nurturing talent to address priority challenges through multidisciplinary and translational research. This entails pooling expertise from various faculties onto collaborative platforms within niche areas and establishing joint research facilities with external partners. The strategy also encompasses expanding networks and collaborations with private, industrial, and international agencies. Significantly, efforts are underway to establish a research, technology, and innovation investment scheme that will streamline the commercialization process at all levels.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is my hope that the information provided offers visitors and staff a comprehensive understanding of the office’s role, contributions, and aspirations in its pursuit of research and innovation excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n
